Make a Donation

The families of Chicxulub thank you for your caring and warm support.

TAX RECEIPT:
I have been asked by many people to repeat the following information of how to make a donation so that they can receive a tax receipt.

All you need to do is write the cheque to:

Include my name (Sharon Helgason) and Chix Food Bank project and they will issue the receipt and deposit the money into the Food Bank account here in Mexico.

• Consider “adopting” a family for one year. Cost is $75 CAD per family at the current despensa distribution of once per month.
  
  
• Check out your grandkids closets! If you are driving back to Chicxulub next winter consider bringing in shoes and jeans and school supplies. Airlines are becoming more restrictive on the weight allowance and these items tend to be heavy.
  
  
• Blanket Program - The winters are getting cooler and we are hoping to provide at least one blanket per family to keep them warm. We hope to include the blankets with next Christmas hampers.
  
  
• Food Recycling - On your return to Canada or the US consider donating your left-over food to the Food Bank. We will arrange pick up and delivery of the foodstuff to the families. Remember every bit helps these families.
  
  
• Warm clothes for the families and children. We are looking for “magic gloves” and knitted slippers. We accept any donation of clothing for our families. There is always someone who is in need.
  
  
• Plastic Laundry Bags. Recycle your plastic laundry bags to us. We can use them for the monthly despensas and avoid the cost of buying plastic bags.
  
  
• Eyeglasses to be recycled are accepted.
  
  
• Community Bulletin's: Are you visiting or living in the Yucatan and have a job that you’d like to post here for the area residents (i.e. cleaning, cooking, maintenance work, etc)? Please contact us. We’ll be happy to post your opportunities on this page and relay them to our Chix Food Bank families.
  
  
• See “Breakfast with Lauren” to see what is happening with the pre-school kids in Chicxulub. I am looking for an interested service club who wants to cover the cost of the vitamin supplements needed for this program.
